Alger Food Bank Needs Your Recycled Donations.

The Alger Food Bank serves many local people every two weeks on the first and third Tuesday of the month. The food bank is always in need of food. However, there are a few things I did not realize they could use until I started volunteering. Quite often they receive food in large containers, these packages are split up by volunteers and put into smaller containers so more people can receive that food item. Clean containers, with lids are always needed. Also, the ties that come from your bread packages and all the ties that sit in your “bag” drawer are used for tying bags of beans, rice, flour, etc. The last item is your aluminum cans. The food bank has an area on the northwest side of the building to collect aluminum cans that volunteers take to the recyclers and collect cash. The food bank can buy twice as much food with $1 than an individual can buy.
The Alger Community Hall donates their land to the food bank.  You can find the food bank west of the Alger Community Hall in the parking lot.  The address is 18735 Parkview Lane off of Old Highway 99 in Alger.
