It's Spring! Time to welcome the fresh air of clean energy and sweep away clouds of carbon pollution.  Learn how we can all help to create healthy communities, support jobs, and move Washington State forward into a clean energy future.
When: Wednesday, March 25, 7-9:00 PM
Where: Lincoln Theater, 712 So. 1st St., Mt. Vernon, WA

Noted singer-songwriter Dana Lyons will entertain us, and members of the La Conner Boys & Girls Club will present their National Energy Star award-winning puppet show.

Presentations include:

  • “Engaging Heart, Soul, and Mind on Climate Change”  Overwhelmed by ever-worsening news on the climate? Anna Fahey, senior communications strategist for Sightline Institute, will share her personal journey with the challenges of climate change and where she finds her hope. (And there's a lot to be hopeful about!)
  • “Local Food Systems and the Color of Climate Justice”  Rosalinda Guillen, Director of Community to Community Development, will draw the connection between social justice and creating new energy for our communities. She comes from a farm worker family in Skagit County and will give a perspective rooted in the land and workers' rights.
  • “Clean Air, New Jobs and Healthy Communities: Reducing Carbon Pollution in Washington” Time to hold polluters accountable! Chris Davis, senior advisor to Gov. Inslee on energy and carbon markets, will discuss the Governor's centerpiece proposal, the Carbon Pollution Accountability Act. Learn more about how this bill faces an uphill battle in the state legislature thanks to scare tactics funded largely by big oil.
  • "How Can I Help?" Here's one suggestion: spend just 5 hours a month helping to build a powerful movement with the Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy. Sabrina Upadhyay, Climate Field Organizer for theWashington Environmental Council, will tell us how to get involved.
Everyone welcome! $10 suggested donation.

Sponsored by Transition Fidalgo & Friends, Alliance for Jobs & Clean Energy, Protect Skagit, and Community to Community Development. For more information, email info@transitionfidalgo.org or call 360-293-4048.
