Letter from Seth Vidana:
To: Friends,
The form letter below doesn't put things as bluntly as they might be, so here goes: RE-Sources is our best bet for keeping North America's largest coal terminal out of Whatcom County. The threat is real and present. RESources needs your help in protecting our homeland from environmental degradation. Please join me at this event. If you can't come, buy a seat and give it away. Either way, this will be a worth-while $50 for an incredible organization. I support them with my dollars and I'm asking you to do the same. Plus, we'll get to sit together and have more fun than any one else. I'm emailing you because I know you care about this issue. Please let me know if you can make it! Letter follows...

I’d like to invite you to join me at my table for RE Sources’ 10th Annual Environmental Heroes Awards Banquet & Fundraiser on September 5th.

Our community stands out as a place that’s filled with informed, engaged citizens working to uphold shared values. As a result of these efforts, our community continues to enjoy protected, thriving ecosystems that support life and attract visitors. Environmental Heroes is a tribute to that work. And as RE Sources' 10th year honoring that work, this will be a very special evening.

While celebrating our community, Environmental Hereos is also an opportunity to support the critical role RE Sources plays in keeping our home protected and thriving. RE Sources will be actively fundraising, so make sure to think ahead about how much their work is worth to you.

You can find the event description and details below. I sincerely hope you can make it. This will both honor some of our local heroes and support RE Sources and the critical work being done right now to protect our precious home.

Best,
Seth

WHAT: 10th Annual Environmental Heroes Awards Banquet & Fundraiser
WHEN: Thursday, September 5th 2013
            5:30-6:30pm  Cocktail Social Hour
            6:30-8:00 pm  Formal Program
WHERE: Lairmont Manor Estate and Gardens; 405 Fieldston Road, Bellingham
TICKETS: $50 per person; includes the price of dinner*
HEROES: The five Heroes, nominated by the public, will be announced July    23rd, 2013.
DRESS: Bellingham-casual (like dressy casual, but with Birkenstocks). We'll be outside under a tent; warm dress is encouraged.

*Ticket sales, drink proceeds, and donations go to support RE Sources' mission to promote sustainable communities and protect human and environmental health through application of science, education, advocacy and action.

The evening will begin with a cocktail social hour from 5:30-6:30pm - a great opportunity to get to know RE Sources' supporters and collaborators, our elected officials and candidates, and the movers and shakers of our community. Enjoy live music by Walt Burkett & Darla Bradshaw Lobb while touring Lairmont's breathtaking gardens. Boundary Bay's reserve beer and a selection of award-winning wines will be sold by the glass or bottle (non-taxed) at the no-host bar.

Two fresh local meal options are available, crafted by Crave Catering: a wild-caught salmon with mango salsa or portobello stuffed with herbs and goat cheese, both served with green basmati and broccoli raab. The meal will begin with spinach salad with red wine soaked cranberries, blue vein cheese and shallot vinaigrette and finish decadently with Crave's famous flourless chocolate torte.
