Howdy Friends and Family,
I’m enjoying some home time now, preparing for the upcoming Great Salish Sea tour, and finishing up editing the Great Salish Sea music video (hopefully out in March or April).

February 7 House Concert in Bow, WA

Looking forward to playing at a house concert at Kate Bowers and Dan Duggin's place, with Kate and Dan warming up and Dan jamming with me on accordion during my set. The greater Bow-Edison-Alger metropolitan area is an important cultural center of Skagit County, known for its local cheese, blueberries, pan-fried oysters, and biker bars. Don't miss this one.

You are invited to a community celebration of black and yellow bugs.

Let us break up the dark of winter with the warmth of community and the light of learning.

First there will be a potluck at 5:30 pm.

Then at 6:30 pm there will be a photo presentation on Black and Yellow Bugs: Pests, Predators and Pollinators and How to Deal with Them in Your Garden.  Chuck Nafziger, Belinda Chambers, and Anette Witter have been taking beautiful photographs of insects around their neighborhood in the Bow-Alger area.  With the help of WWU entomologist, Chuck has identified many bugs, but many he has not. The more he studied the more he realized he did not know.  Come and explore the diverse, mysterious and complicated web of these important bugs and how to deal with them in your garden.  Black and Yellow bugs are a cornerstone to a healthy and resilient watershed.

At 8:00 pm, we will come together to embrace the returning light with two fire sculptures: "Nesting Functions" and "Dragonfly".  Winter is the perfect time to dream of abundant gardens, life...and the return of light!

Join us at any point.  The event is free, but donations to the Alger Community Hall are appreciated.

Happy Winter!
